Chinese New Year

This will be my first Chinese New Year away from home, and all of a sudden, the enormity of it hits me. I will not have the comfort of home, family or tradition. No more waking up and getting changed into new clothes with the whole family and mum bringing out the gold stuff for everyone to wear. No more 'zum cha' for grandmother and get angpow. No more go to parents room and get angpow. Not even the bright sun and the mandarin oranges.
The worst part is not not receiving the little red packets, but to miss out on the fun my family will be having. The happiness when friends and family toss Yee Sang and wish for a better new year. No one to just sit with you and reflect upon the year that passed.
Treasure your traditions, family and roots. It's so easy to realise now when I'm so far away.
Wishing you all a 'Gong Xi Fa Chai' and telling you that you are all very missed.
祝大家新年快乐,万事如意,牛到成功。
